NEW COMMODORE FOR UYC

NEW COMMODORE FOR UYC

At a very well attended General Meeting of Ullswater Yacht Club on Saturday evening, John Spivey was elected the new Commodore.   In January he will be taking over from Roy Hulse who has completed his three years in office.

John, who lives at Watermillock,  has been a member of Ullswater YC for over 12 years and regularly sails his cruiser, an Etap 21. He has been a keen sailor since 1950 when he started sailing as a member of Bassenthwaite Sailing Club.  He then enjoyed sailing in the south of England for many years before returning to Cumbria.

John thanked Roy for all his hard work over the last three years, particularly during the floods of 2009 when UYC clubhouse suffered severe damage.

Other changes have seen John Robson taking over as Vice Commodore from John Robinson, Rob Watson is the new Secretary in place of Andrew Smith, and David Sykes becomes the new Sailing Secretary taking over from Jim Wilson.

The new committee members will take office in January 2012.
