Race report, April 18 and 19

Race report, April 18 and 19

Five races were sailed in Tom Ball series for dinghies, two on Saturday and three on Sunday. On Saturday, Anne Noble in her VX1 was first with Flying Fifteens in second and third places.  In the second race, Flying Fifteens took the first three places with John Thornley in the lead. On Sunday in stronger winds, Matty and James Lyons won all three races in their 49er.

Five cruisers raced on Saturday in the Denis Vernon Family Series which is sailed with white sails only, no spinnakers, to encourage those club members who are new to racing.  Colin Johnston with Richard Sealby in their Jaguar 21 came in first on handicap.

On Sunday there were two races for cruisers in the points series. With many cruisers still to be prepared for launching after being stored over the winter, there was still a good turn-out.  Ray Harle in a Hunter Europa crewed by John Wales came in first with Chris Taylor and Cana second in their Etap 21.  The positions were reversed for the second race, with Chris first across the line.
