Wild and windy, June 6 & 7

Wild and windy, June 6 & 7

The wild wind also turned Fleet Weekend into a one-day event. The extreme conditions on Saturday gave way to lighter winds and sunshine and the members enjoyed three good races on Sunday with the results not decided until after the final race.

In the Conventional Fleet, in which nine boats were racing, Andy Cutting came first overall in his RS Vareo with Jonathan Nicholl second in a Laser, just one point behind. Just one point separated the top two overall in the Asymmetric Fleet, Graham Priestley coming out on top in his Musto Skiff in front of Lester Noble and John McAfee in a 49er. In the Tempests, Ian Modral and Robin Higgens got two firsts and a second to take the overall prize with John Robinson and Lindsay Whitehead second.
