Something for everyone in 2016

Something for everyone in 2016

Highlight of the year is the Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy which this year will be held on the weekend of July 2 and 3. The Birkett is the club’s most prestigious event attracting entries of more than 200 boats and voted number eight in the world’s top 50 regattas by Yachts & Yachting. Last year’s Birkett was an all-time record-breaker with a total number of entries of 231 boats. Two ACH races cover the length of Cumbria’s most beautiful lake with one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Read more under Events…Lord Birkett Trophy.

The competitive year kicks off with the Easter Regatta, March 26-28, which is an open event for all classes. It’s a series of 7 races sailed as a minimum of two handicap fleets depending on the entries. The club is also welcoming the RS Feva class for an Open Event on March 26-28 with a training day being held for the class on Friday, March 25. The weekend of June 25 & 26 will feature the Tempest class National championships as well as an Open Event for the VX One, which is the club’s fastest growing fleet, and the 29er.

In August the club is holding its traditional Holiday Week, from August 8-12. Come to Ullswater Regatta, August 6 and 7, and stay on for an extra day or two or the whole week. A relaxed racing programme changing each day makes this a great holiday for all. Read more under Events…Ullswater Week 2016.

For newcomers, our hugely successful Ladies Who Launch and Blokes in a Boat sessions will again be held over eight Saturdays throughout the season.
