Penrith Show/ Volunteers Night, July 23

Penrith Show/ Volunteers Night, July 23

Our blue and yellow themed stand at Penrith Show attracted loads of interest and everywhere you looked were children with our yellow balloons. The weather stayed fine and we were able to leave the Bahia and Pico sails up all day, you could see the Bahia sail from all over the showground. A great attraction was getting the children to climb in the boats and pretend they were sailing while their parents took photographs. The instructors really did us proud and engaged so well with the visitors.

Rebecca Bairstow’s banners covered with photographs were eye-catching, they are now on display at the club, as were our four new yellow feather flags, thanks Rebecca. And we had a banner of a new club graphic, a version of the Birkett/jetty logo showing VX Ones sailing in a South-westerly, thanks Jo Luke Giles.  He may be more than 4,000 miles away but his design talent and his heart are here with the club. Our logos, graphics and other designs are the result of many hours of work done in an office in First Street SW, Calgary. So well done to all our #sailUYC Penrith Show volunteers Sue and Dave Giles, Harry Patrick, Liz Amos, Matt and Sam Smith, Maddie Bairstow, Eve and Will Melling and Edmund Clarke…. And behind the scenes - Rebecca Bairstow, Violet Simpson and Jo Luke Giles.

On the evening the club honoured all the volunteers who have contributed so much to the club this year at a special celebration buffet in the refurbished clubhouse - thanks to you all.
