Ullswater Regatta, August 6 & 7 2016


The biggest fleet was the Slow Handicap with 27 entries and the competitors included visitors from County Antrim Yacht Club, Frensham Pond Sailing Club and West Wilts Youth Sailing Association. The overall winners, with three races to count, were Dave and Sue Giles of UYC in a Flying Fifteen, counting three firsts. Charlotte and Keith Videlo of Frensham Pond SC in a 420 were second and Andrew Cutting of UYC in a RS Vareo was third. The junior trophy went to Oscar Riley of UYC sailing a Laser 4.7.

In the 13-strong fast handicap fleet, there were visitors from Shearwater Sailing Club and Scaling Dam Sailing Club. Matty and James Lyons of UYC in a 49er were the winners, also counting three firsts, David and Edmund Clarke of UYC were second in a VX One and Anne Noble, Tom Giles and Fiona Gibson of UYC in a VX One were third. The trophy for first Tempest went to Ian Modral and Robin Higgins of UYC. The cruiser fleet winners were Ray Harle and Neil Sayer of UYC in a Hunter Europa with David Thomson and Jamie Hall also of UYC in a Hunter Europa second.
