UYC Success at Kippford Week

UYC Success at Kippford Week
Three boats from Ullswater YC took part in the annual Kippford Sailing Week held at Solway Yacht Club.  Sunday 8th August was Regatta Day which attracted a total entry of 53 boats.  In the Flying Fifteens Dave Giles came second with Ian Priestley third.  Neil Thompson, racing his Streaker for the first time, came 11th.

Kippford Week series started on  Monday 9th August with wet and very windy conditions.  A SW Force 5-6 blew with heavy swells.  Similar conditions greeted competitors on Tuesday with even bigger seas. Many competitors decided not to launch.  As the week went on the weather improved and sailing conditions calmed down to a pleasant Force 2-3 on Friday.

Final positions: The Flying Fifteen fleet attracted 10 entries with Dave and Sue Giles the clear winners.  Ian and Pat Priestley came third.  A total of 44 boats took part in the Handicap Series.  Neil Thompson in his Streaker did not sail three races due to the conditions, but came 6th out of 44 boats in his best result.
