Looking for somewhere to sail in the Lake District? Look no further than Ullswater, one of the most stunning lakes in the UK.

We are located at the northern part of this seven-mile lake, and being only 10 minutes from the M6, we are the most accessible.

Whether its an introduction to sailing, RYA training, or competitive racing your after, we have it all. And by the way, if you are a member of UYC you can camp for free in the Club grounds.

DINNER HELD TO CELEBRATE CLUB RE-OPENING

Members of UYC held a dinner on Saturday evening to formally celebrate the re-opening of the clubhouse. Over 50 members attended the evening, and Commodore Roy Hulse thanked helpers for putting on such a wonderful meal.

Roy added that although this had been a difficult year for the sailing club after the damage caused by last Novembers floods, we had come through it with flying colours and members were already looking forward to the 2011 season. Read more for Photo.

John and Liz Spivey win POETS Series

John and Liz Spivey in their Etap 266 have won this years POETS Series. Twelve boats completed the series and the finish was extremely close.

UYC Juniors Sail to Victory

Over 30 young sailors attended the last Junior event of the season last Saturday, finishing the end of another successful season of racing.

Ferry Service Resumes

Ullswater Ferries service to Pooley Bridge will return to normal on Saturday 16th October.

Extensive repairs have been carried out to the pier at Pooley Bridge after severe floods hit the area in November 2009. Since mid August ferries have been terminating at Howtown whilst engineers worked on the new pier. The repairs were carried out at a time of the year to protect the delicate ecology of the lake, particularly spawning salmon.

We are holding a dinner to celebrate the reopening of the Club House on Saturday, 16th October, at 7 p.m. There will be a three course meal with coffee at £9 per ticket. Tickets to be bought from the bar or the kitchen.
