I have just returned from the club. The road was passable with extreme care, but it was raining hard and the lake was rising again. It is currently about four feet lower than at its worst. The Clubhouse is out of bounds, There is little to see as except a lot of mess. At it 's highest the water has beem about a foot above the main clubroom floor.
Although one or two tenders have been wrecked but everything else seems okay, except safetyboat one which has suffered badly. The cruisers seem to have survived even the three that remain on club moorings are still there. One ( a silhouette I think ) is sitting very low in the water and may not stay afloat for long, Not much can be done until conditions improve.
Dinghies should be removed from the club as soon as is possible however if conditions worsen you won't get down the situation changes all the time and as soon as I write this it will be out of date.
We, dinghy owners, owe a massive debt of thanks to the brave few who risked life and limb to move your boats. They are safe at present .
There is a white hunter Medina which has broken free from its moorings, somehow it has got under the bridge at pooley bridge with its mast up and is now in the pub garden. It may well belong to a club member. as it has uyc membership stickers on it..
This is an entirely unofficial update, I will update it if I am told that the position has worstened or if there is some official comunitcation from the club officials.
